If you are
Temperate,
or have
Temperance,

this means that you have,

Moderation, or restraint, or self-control of the appetite, emotions, and other gratifications.

The word 'Temperance' comes from several Greek words which give the sense that, to attain temerance, one must give oneself wholly to the proposition of great vigor, dominion, might, power, strength.
For the Christian believer, however, temperance is attained by abiding in Christ, and giving oneself wholly to His abundant life, power, might, strength, and power.

Peter said,
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
2 Peter 1:5-7

Temperance is both a virtue and a Fruit of the Spirit. This Fruit is born in the Believer as he walks 'in the Spirit', away from fleshly sins and overindulgence, and ever more closely with Christ; being filled with His abundant life, might, power, strength, and dominion over sin and darkness.
